China has just concluded its annual Two Sessions meetings of the National People’s Congress and the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference, when work of the past year is reviewed and major targets are made for the coming year. Each year, journalists from all over the world come to Beijing to cover these decisive meetings. How do international journalists view the Two Sessions this year? What topics are they most interested in? And how do they walk the line between what they see on the ground and what Western audiences might expect? We have some foreign journalists with us to share their insights on reporting on this year’s Two Sessions.
Guests in this edition of Dialogue are Rick Dunham, former White House correspondent for Business Week and visiting scholar at Tsinghua University; Prof. Anna Rosario Malindog-Uy, director and vice president for external affairs of the Asian Century Philippines Strategic Studies Institute; and Zoon Ahmed Khan, founder of the Shandhe Review and research fellow at Center for China and Globalization.
