Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky has confirmed that his country and the U.S. have reached consensus on a deal to co-set up an "investment fund" for Ukraine’s reconstruction. Ukraine would contribute 50 percent of future proceeds from state-owned mineral resources, oil and gas to the fund, and the fund would then invest in projects in Ukraine itself. However, the deal leaves out crucial security guarantees for Ukraine. Zelensky is set to meet President Donald Trump in Washington this Friday to sign the agreement, which Trump claims could be worth around $1 trillion. So how do all key players regard the deal, including the EU and Russia? And finally, could the deal be one step closer to finally ending the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict?
