The World Health Organization is calling Friday’s earthquake in Myanmar a “top-level emergency”, issuing an urgent call for relief funding. More than 1,700 people have now been confirmed dead but local media are reporting that the death toll could be nearly double that. The country is also facing a shortage of body bags, and the WHO says there is a risk of a disease outbreak.
