In a rare move, the U.S. has voted against a UN resolution drafted by Ukraine and other European countries condemning Russian aggression and calling for peace. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has suggested a deal will soon be reached granting the U.S. access to Ukraine’s rare mineral resources. How does the UN vote reflect the growing transatlantic rift between the U.S. and Europe? Will a mineral deal help or hurt Ukraine in the long run?
