The China International Search and Rescue Team (CISAR) conducted a search operation for survivors at the Great Wall Hotel in Mandalay on April 1. The hotel, originally eight stories tall, sustained severe structural damage during the earthquake. Its bottom two floors collapsed, causing the entire building to tilt dangerously. By the time the rescue team arrived, more than 100 hours had passed since the disaster. Despite extreme risks, rescue workers used multiple methods to detect signs of life and repeatedly entered the collapsed structure in a determined effort to locate and save survivors.
