While he received a warm welcome and extensive media coverage in China, he admitted that his trip — and the reception he received — went entirely unnoticed by the American media. Kail speculated that this lack of coverage is due to the American media’s tendency to perpetuate negativity about China. However, he expressed hope that this mindset would change.
