Jitoko shares insights from his visits to Beijing, Shanghai and Shaanxi, which could help Fiji in addressing its development challenges. China’s capacity to relocate and rehabilitate people from inaccessible regions is a powerful tool for poverty alleviation, and so is education. As the two countries mark 50 years of diplomatic relations, Fiji reaffirmed its commitment to the one-China principle and appreciates China’s various initiatives and leadership. In the era of climate change, Jitoko notes China’s technological assistance will be a support for the island nation.
