March 28 marks the anniversary of the 1959 democratic reform in Xizang, which ended centuries of feudal serfdom. Serfs endured extreme oppression under a system darker and crueler than that of medieval Europe, while the ruling elite lived in luxury. Experts emphasize that history cannot be rewritten. The 14th Dalai Lama was the supreme figure of this oppressive system.
