U.S. markets plunge amid sweeping tariffs announced by Trump

U.S. stocks suffered their worst day since the height of the COVID-19 pandemic after President Donald Trump imposed broad tariffs on imports from nearly all trading partners. The Dow Jones dropped 1,679 points, while the S&P 500 and NASDAQ saw declines of 4.84 percent and 5.97 percent respectively. Major tech and retail stocks, including Apple, Meta, Amazon and Nike, were hit hard. Despite the turmoil, Trump remains optimistic, claiming the markets and economy will "boom."
