Trevor Clark, UNICEF’s regional chief of emergency, is worried about the situation facing children in Myanmar after the powerful earthquake that struck the country on Friday. Young people are among the casualties. A team from UNICEF will leave Yangon for Mandalay to carry out child-focused assessments. In Mandalay, major infrastructure, schools and hospitals have been damaged. Electricity is out and communication is poor.
