Beginning April 1, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Eastern Theater Command launched military exercises around Taiwan Island, issuing a stern warning to separatist forces.

CGTN Stringer hit the streets of Taipei to gauge public opinion on the impact of these exercises and expectations for the future of cross-Straits relations.

Many attribute the escalating tensions to Lai Ching-te’s policies and hope for a peaceful path forward. They also look forward to increased exchanges, with more Taiwan talents studying on the mainland.
