Aftermath of the 7.7-magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar
The aftermath of a massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake in Mandalay on Mar 28 has caused it to be one of the hardest-hit areas in Myanmar. So far, at least 2,000 people have died, with more than 3,900 people injured and 270 missing. Beyond the destruction of infrastructure, the disaster has also shaken people’s sense of security. Residents told CNA they still feared entering buildings, with any aftershock alerts sending residents scrambling for safety. Myanmar has said that it would mark a minute of silence in tribute to victims of the country’s devastating earthquake.
