Canada will soon have a new ruling party leader. The race to replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau comes to a climax on Sunday (Mar 9), when his successor will be chosen. Trudeau, who has led the Liberal Party for 11 years, announced his resignation in early January after a series of political crises. Daniel Béland, director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada, shares with CNA’s Asia First whether Trudeau will have any influence over who succeeds him as party leader.
