China vows to ‘fight to bitter end’ if US pushes for trade war
China has vowed to "fight to the bitter end", should the US push for a trade war. The world’s two largest economies slapped fresh levies on each other today, moving closer to an all-out trade war. Beijing’s retaliatory levies range from 10% to 15% on US agricultural products, including chicken, wheat, fruits and vegetables — affecting some US$21 billion worth of American agricultural and food products. A group of US firms has also been added to China’s export control list on the grounds of national security. Kate Fisher reports from Washington DC.
