Duterte’s drug war: Former Philippine president en route to The Hague to face ICC charges
Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is on the final stretch of his journey to The Hague, after his arrest in Manila yesterday. This marks the biggest step yet in the International Criminal Court’s probe into alleged crimes against humanity during a crackdown on drugs that killed thousands. On arrival in the Netherlands, Mr Duterte is expected to be transferred to the ICC’s detention unit. Meanwhile, the Philippine Supreme Court has held off on issuing a temporary restraining order on the arrest of the former president.
