Mark Carney has won the race to succeed Justin Trudeau as Canada’s prime minister. The former central banker secured 86 per cent of the vote in a ruling Liberal Party leadership poll on Sunday (Mar 9). Carney’s first big task will be to respond to threats from United States President Donald Trump, who has slapped tariffs on its northern neighbour and threatened to annex Canada.
