Myanmar quake: Aid volunteers report relative quiet after junta pledged temporary ceasefire
The Myanmar army says it would observe a three-week ceasefire truce after other armed groups fighting in the country’s civil war made similar pledges. The move is aimed at making humanitarian relief efforts easier, after last week’s 7.7-magnitude earthquake devastated central Myanmar. CNA’s team tagged along with some volunteers on a trip to Sagaing, which is not only affected by the quake, but also ongoing conflict between the army and its opponents.
