Pakistan train hijack: Suicide bombers complicating rescue operation, 190 hostages freed so far
Pakistani forces have launched a full-scale operation to rescue passengers held hostage in a train hijack in the country’s southwest. Authorities said suicide bombers are among militants on board the Jaffar Express train. The Balochistan Liberation Army has taken responsibility for the attack and set a 48-hour deadline for demands to be met — which includes the release of political prisoners and activists. Security sources said 190 people have been freed so far, and it is unclear how many more are still being held. Some 450 passengers were estimated to have been onboard the train.
