Preparing for heatwaves: Residents can cool down at community centres, some indoor sports halls
A group set up to combat heatwaves – the Mercury Taskforce – says people can go to spaces like community centres and some air-conditioned sports halls to cool off during such an extreme weather event. This comes as Singapore tackles rising temperatures. In Singapore, a heatwave occurs when the highest daily temperature goes above 35 degrees Celcius for three days in a row and the daily mean temperature hits at least 29 degrees Celcius.
