Protests are underway in Indonesia, after the parliament passed contentious revisions to the country’s military law. The changes will allow more military officers to take up civilian posts, expanding its role in governance. Some students have camped at the parliamentary building since yesterday to protest. Military personnel have been deployed to the building to assist police. The revisions have stoked concern of a return to the era of former strongman President Suharto, when the military played a key role in cracking down on dissent. Chandni Vatvani reports.
