Shoe repurposing project stalls without places to use recycled granules
The fate of more than 330,000 pairs of donated shoes hangs in the balance at a warehouse. Sport Singapore and material science company Dow started collecting them almost four years ago for a repurposing project. But after collecting more than 400,000 pairs, project partners are facing an uphill battle to find places that want to use them. Experts say future initiatives must take into account both demand and supply. Eugene Chow reports.
