Singapore needs 2,000 more social workers by 2030; new SUSS school to fill gaps
The Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) has set up a new school of social work with refreshed curriculum to grow and sustain the local talent pool. This comes as the country needs 2,000 more social workers over the next five years to meet the needs of the population. The school currently takes in around 250 students across all its social work programmes and wants to widen that pool. Professor Robbie Goh, Provost at SUSS, discusses what it takes for new talent to be trained to enter the social work sector and what needs to be done to keep them.
