Ranya Rao, a Sandalwood actor and daughter of a DGP-rank officer, was arrested at Bengaluru airport for smuggling 14.8 kg of gold. She allegedly made 27 trips to Dubai in two months, smuggling gold each time. Officials seized cash and gold worth ₹17.29 crore from her residence. Her stepfather, Ramachandra Rao, has denied involvement in the smuggling racket.
