Ranya Rao, stepdaughter of Karnataka DGP Rama Chandra Rao, was arrested at Bengaluru airport for smuggling gold worth over 12 crore rupees. She allegedly made 30 trips to Dubai last year, earning 12-13 lakh rupees per trip. DRI seized gold bars and cash totalling 17 crore rupees from her residence. Rao claims she was blackmailed into smuggling. Her father denies knowledge of her activities. The investigation is ongoing to determine if she was part of a larger smuggling network.
