Activist waves Palestinian flag above Big Ben for over 16 hours
A British activist sparked widespread debate on social media after successfully scaling London’s iconic Big Ben. He raised the Palestinian flag at the top of the tower and remained there for 16 hours.
Wearing a Palestinian keffiyeh and waving the flag, he stood atop the tower as crowds gathered below, chanting his name.
The incident led to heightened security measures, including the cancellation of parliamentary tours and the closure of Bridge Street and Westminster Bridge.
After prolonged negotiations involving police, emergency responders, and a crisis response team, authorities convinced him to descend after 16 hours, and he was arrested.
