Assad loyalists clash with Syrian security forces
Intense clashes erupted in Syria between Syrian security forces and loyalists of deposed President Bashar al-Assad. A monitoring group, the British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported that more than 70 people had been killed. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated on Friday that 71 people had died, including 35 members of government forces, 32 gunmen affiliated with the former regime’s army, and four civilians.
