Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to land in the Netherlands in the coming hours to face charges at the International Criminal Court. Filipino Police acted on a warrant through Interpol for his arrest and put him on a private plane from Manila. Police records show more than 6,000 people were killed during Duterte’s controversial “war on drugs”. There have been some protests against his arrest.
Eric Witte served as the External Relations advisor to a former President of the ICC. He says the legal process will take time after Duterte arrives at The Hague.
