While Israel has not formally declared war on the occupied West Bank, its ongoing military escalation there has reached an unprecedented scale, Amjad Abu El Ezz, a professor of political science at the Arab American University in Ramallah, says. “It’s obvious that there is an Israeli plan that’s been planned a long time ago,” El Ezz said. He pointed to statements by Israel’s far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich about plans to expand illegal Israeli settlements in the West Bank.
