U.S. tariffs are on the rise. Several weeks into the Trump administration, U.S. President Donald Trump announced this week a 25 percent tariff on all steel and aluminium imports. Earlier this month, he ordered an additional 10 percent levy on all products from China. The new U.S. tariffs did not sit well with U.S. trading partners, including the European Union, Canada, Brazil and Mexico. These raise fears of broad trade wars. So, beneath all the chaos and disruptions, what’s the U.S. administration’s endgame? Could tariffs make America great again?
