A self-professed "devoted admirer of Chinese philosophy," Van Rompuy advocates for multilateralism, tolerance, and mutual respect. Commenting on Chinese President Xi Jinping’s three global initiatives, he notes that they "provide direction for our efforts toward achieving critical goals."
